For us, it has been completing our business degrees, homeschooling a middle school aged child, grading papers, figuring out an agenda for her, keeping her involved, as well as helping us out with our work. But we manage to do it even though we sometimes want to rip our hair out or think about quitting every time the computer locks up or the machine we are operating decides that it’s Friday and time to go home.
When you rebrand a product or business however you do not want to throw your consumers off with a whole new look. If you make a complete change to the appearance of your product your consumers may think that you eliminated that product completely.
How can we outsmart ourselves? I’m sure it sounds like an idiot setting a trap for themselves but is too witty to get caught. What I mean by this is, make yourself smarter than what you are. We started our small business with a sewing machine and a $50 gift card. Needless to say, turning a hobby into a small business is about finding your niche in the ever-growing online retail market.
The Craft Mill began as a true labor of love. Between my regular daytime job, raising and homeschooling our granddaughter, community involvement and my husband's 12 hour evening law enforcement shifts we just weren't seeing one another.
